The most common money in use in the world is the gold piece; in various countries, this may be called a sovereign, a crown, a dollar, or by some other name. There are 25 gold pieces to the pound. Usually there are smaller pieces of money in any given land, usually gold-silver alloy (artificial electrum) which are the smaller (1/50th pound) and are worth 1/10 of a gold piece. This coin is usually called a talent or sometimes a shilling. Finally, there are a variety of copper or alloy coins, 1/50th pound, worth 1/100 gold piece; this coin is almost always called a penny.
